The Upholders

This painting is part of my recent solo exhibition held in my home town and presenting 38 paintings in the theme sunflowers. With this exhibition, I once again say how much I love the earth and its way of existence. All summer I pass by the sunflower field twice a day. I observed their life. I reflected. The sunflower lives only 5 months and experiences so many states, each of them in its true meaning and conscious passion. I saw steadfastness, dedication and confidence. The parallel with our life was inevitable. What do we do with all this time we have. Do we realize how much time we have for so many things. What do we use or waste time for. What states do we fall into. Do we know that we are in them. Hence the name Stops. Because this is how we go through our lives. In a series of stops. And each of them has its own and independent meaning. Every period or even moment, every person we meet, carries something, has a role, has the right time. We stop somewhere or with someone. We stop in some feeling, in some thought, in some state. Do we understand how these states build us. How do we react to them and do we allow them to define us? Do we become them? Do we see how they change us or the people around us? That's why most of the paintings here have names for states. That was my way of making sense of them. Others have names and reflect types. They are permanent states or character traits, so to speak. And I found them in the different stages of the sunflowers. That was a lot of fun. This original oil painting is made on stretched cotton canvas. Size is 50x60cm. Depth 2 cm. Canvas is gallery wrapped and painted on the sides, so the painting could be hang as it is without a frame if preferred. The painting will be sent safely packed within 4 working days after the purchase. A certificate of authenticity will be enclosed.
